Book Challenge 2013

Having spoken to many of you over my time running this blog I noticed a common theme. It seams to me that nobody spends as much time reading as they would like and people are always unsatisfied. I get a lot of questions on either, tips for finishing a boring book or books I would recommend.

So as I struggle with these problems myself and I think a lot of you do I’ve decided to create a challenge. The challenge is that you must set your self a goal, to read “X” books by the end if 2013, and to encourage others to do the same. It’s not an official challenge, it’s just me trying to encourage people to read more as a good book is always worth the time.

If you are interested in taking part in this challenge I have created a Goodreads group for it’s participants. The aim of the group is to create a space where we can encourage each other and share ideas. If you are reading a boring book post so and hopefully the other members of the group will motivate you to keep going. If you are stuck for the right book to read ask other people in the group for recomendations. Or if you’re like me and really like to fangirl when you finish a good book and want to share it with everyone because it fills you with “a weird evangelical zeal” you can start a discussion about it.

If this is something you’re interested in, first set yourself a target number of books. It does not matter how small this number is, the aim of the challenge is to get you to read more not the most. Then put the number in here on the Goodread’s book counter and finally join the group I’ve made so we can all help each other achieve this goal.

I’m not expecting a large turn out of members for this, all I want is a small group of people who actively encourage each other to read more as I think a little positivity can make a huge difference when reading a book.
